Hi I'm 34 and am hard of hearing. I wear hearing aids to correct my hearing and I've had the same ones for 8 years now. Both of my hearing aids have stopped working and have been sent in for repairs, however, the repair costs are $1100 .. $550 per ear and our insurance doesn't cover hearing aids and I don't qualify for federal/state help because of my age. I suppose only those who are really young or really old should have hearing problems, but that's just not the case. I am isolated and withdrawn without my hearing aids. I avoid friends, family and all social situations. I am also unable to work because I can't hear, which just makes the financial burden a lot worse. I need to hear to function in my current situation. A good example I give my husband, who often doesn't really understand, is I tell him to give me his glasses and let him try to get through his day with a life altering disability. If there is an organization that will help, I would be so eternally grateful or even an institution that would work with us on a loan/repayment plan. It's hard to earn money when you can't hear to do your job. Thank you & God Bless.
